Huntsville, Alabama (September 4, 2025) – Mix 96.9 (WRSA-FM) and the Von Braun Center (VBC) are excited to announce details for the 11th Annual Huntsville Christmas Parade, taking place Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in downtown Huntsville.

The announcement was made during a press conference on Thursday, September 4th in the VBC’s Mars Music Hall, where Santa Claus, WRSA and VBC staff, sponsors, and community leaders gathered to kick-off the holiday season.

“The Huntsville Christmas Parade has become one of our community’s most cherished holiday traditions,” said Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle. “It’s more than just floats and lights—it’s families gathering downtown, neighbors celebrating side by side, and the entire city sharing in the joy of the season. Events like this strengthen our community and remind us of the spirit that makes Huntsville such a special place to call home.”

More than 500 community members cast their votes in July to select this year’s parade theme. The results are in, and the official theme for 2025 is “A Very Merry Christmas.”

“This theme really brings us back to the heart of the holidays,” said Abby Kay, WRSA Program Director and Morning Show Host. “It’s about joy, family, and tradition. I can’t wait to see our community come together to bring this cheerful theme to life with their floats and performances.”

The Huntsville Christmas Parade has become one of the most anticipated holiday traditions in the Tennessee Valley, attracting thousands of spectators each year. This year’s parade will be presented for the first time by Food City.

“We are so excited to welcome Food City as this year’s presenting sponsor,” said Samantha Nielsen, VBC Director of Marketing and Public Relations. “Each year this event grows in creativity and community spirit, and having Food City’s support ensures this tradition continues to bring smiles, laughter, and holiday magic to downtown Huntsville.”

Registration for the 2025 Huntsville Christmas Parade is now open and will remain open through October 17. Interested participants can find registration information at mix969huntsville.com. Space is limited, and applications will be reviewed by a panel. Floats will be judged on Creativity, Execution, and Theme Interpretation.

“Food City is honored to serve as the presenting sponsor for this year’s Huntsville Christmas Parade,” said Myron McCormick, Food City Alabama District Manager. “Community is at the heart of everything we do, and this event embodies the joy, togetherness, and celebration of the season. We look forward to sharing in the holiday spirit with families from across the Tennessee Valley.”

As in years past, the WRSA and VBC teams will host a Pre-Parade Party and VIP Viewing Area presented by Landers McClarty. Families can enjoy free food, holiday activities, and photos with Santa. Access is limited; admission requires a donation to the parade’s chosen nonprofit beneficiary. Applications have been received, and the 2025 nonprofit beneficiary is Rocket City Rescue, a nonprofit dedicated to saving, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in need. Tangible donations to Rocket City Rescue during specific drop-off days (dates to announced soon) will be accepted in exchange for tickets to the Pre-Parade Party and VIP Viewing Area, where families can enjoy food, activities, and photos with Santa.

“We are beyond grateful to be chosen as the nonprofit beneficiary for this year’s Huntsville Christmas Parade,” said Michelle Underwood, Director of Rocket City Rescue. “Our mission is to give every animal the chance at a safe and loving home, and being part of such a beloved community tradition helps raise awareness and support for that work. We’re especially excited to have some of our rescues serving as this year’s Grand Marshals – it’s the perfect way to show that every pet deserves a place in the holiday spirit.”

The parade will begin on Clinton Avenue near the U.S. Post Office at 6:00 p.m. and travel east through downtown Huntsville, ending near AM Booth’s Lumberyard.
