Autumn Equinox Homeschool Day at Chapman Mountain

Wednesday, September 23, 2026 – Homeschool Day:  Autumn Equinox

Join us at Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve for our Homeschool Days this fall! We are having 2 homeschool days, one on Wednesday, September 23 and one on Wednesday, November 18.

Celebrate the fall equinox and changing seasons with us at Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve for our September Homeschool Day. Come and go at any time between 10:00 and 2:00 for our scheduled hikes and story times, borrow our field guides and binoculars and take them on your own hike, or work on our self-directed activities with your family. Activities and stories will focus on the equinox and changing seasons, fall leaves, and seeds and pollinators. During story time learn about equinox traditions around the world and some of our local animals.

Location: Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve – 1263 U.S Hwy 72 East, Huntsville, AL 35811

Directions: Coming from Huntsville, cross Chapman Mountain and u-turn at Moores Mill Road. When safe, get into the merge lane on the right (plenty of time). When the silver guard rail ends, be ready to turn right onto the paved entrance. Drive through the gate and down the gravel road to the parking area at the bottom of the hill.

Registration Required. When you register you will sign our waiver. If we need to cancel or postpone due to weather or trail conditions, we will email you at the address you used to register.
