Conservation Through Art: 50 Years of Wilderness in Alabama Art Show – Opening Reception

Wild Alabama’s Conservation Through Art: 50
Years of Wilderness in Alabama art exhibit is now showing in the
Second Floor Connector gallery at Lowe Mill Arts and Entertainment in
Huntsville. The exhibit runs through September 20.

The wild places of Alabama have always informed the work of artists,
photographers, and writers. The Conservation Through Art exhibit at
Lowe Mill displays the work of thirteen north Alabama artists and
photographers, each of whom has a love for the federally-designated
Wilderness areas in Alabama – Sipsey Wilderness, Cheaha Wilderness
and Dugger Mountain Wilderness.

In addition to the art exhibit, art workshops, hikes and forest bathing
walks are scheduled for August and September. The Opening
Reception is Saturday, August 2 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Second
Floor Connector Gallery at Lowe Mill. All are invited to attend and hear
artists discuss their work. Wilderness-inspired poetry will be offered by
Wild Alabama’s Writing the Wild program coordinator Anne Markham
Bailey, and Alabama poet Sam Calhoun.
