Spend a summer morning surrounded by the vibrant beauty of blooming daylilies and the simple joy of a picnic in the Garden. Join us for the Daylily Open House Picnic, a relaxed, come-and-go experience nestled within the Van Valkenburgh Daylily Garden.

Stroll through waves of color at your own pace, then settle in for a leisurely picnic among the blooms. Bring your favorite breakfast or lunch foods from home, or stop by the Garden’s Fern & Feast Bistro for something fresh and delicious. Whether you linger with friends, enjoy a quiet moment to yourself, or make it a family outing, this is your invitation to slow down and savor the season.

This passive experience invites you to explore freely—arrive when you like and stay as long as you wish during Garden operating hours. If you’re interested in learning more, knowledgeable Daylily Garden Volunteers will be nearby and happy to share insights about the collection from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Members enjoy complimentary access with their membership, and non-members can join with regular Garden admission. Pre-registration is encouraged to help us plan your visit, but walk-ins are always welcome.
