End Addiction HSV Walk

Not One More Alabama, a non-profit organization based in Huntsville, is hosting its 7th Annual End Addiction HSV Walk at Big Spring Park Saturday, August 17 from 9 -11 a.m. This annual community event presents an opportunity for anyone impacted by the disease of addiction to connect with others who have walked a similar path.

This year’s keynote speaker is WAFF 48 Morning News Anchor Haley Baker. Her successful television career, striking appearance, loving husband and two beautiful children paint a picture-perfect life, however, addiction does not discriminate. Haley regained control of her addiction to alcohol when she took the bold step to ask for help three years ago. We look forward to hearing her story.

We respect anonymity, but believe in recovery out loud so others do not suffer in silence. Traditionally at the walk, families bring photos of loved ones lost and place them, along with a note, on the Memorial Wall. Groups also form teams to honor the memory of a loved one, while some come to learn about resources, support a co-worker, friend or loved one. Others gather to celebrate recovery and inspire hope. NOMA’s Circle of Hope prior to the walk honors days, months and years of sobriety achieved by presenting each individual with a Recovery Coin.

Representatives from more than 40 treatment, recovery and support organizations have signed up to set up around the park to share information about services available. While supplies last, we will be distributing FREE naloxone, the life-saving, overdose reversal drug. This is a FREE event and everyone is invited to attend.
