Forest Bathing at Cane Creek Nature Preserve

WHAT IS FOREST BATHING?
Forest Bathing is a guided immersion in nature and studies point to the many benefits for our physical and mental well-being. Through simple prompts called invitations, Forest Bathing Guides support participants in opening the senses, enabling participants to deepen into their awareness of connectedness. This awareness of connection is good for us. Our stress levels decrease, and our sense of well-being increases. The practice is slow and leisurely, done mostly in silence. Forest Bathing as a practice originated in Japan. In Japanese, the term is Shinrin Yoku. The practice is now a global movement, and is being prescribed to patients by physicians and mental health professionals.
The group size is limited is ten participants. Together we will hike a short distance into our designated location, and over the course of the session, the Forest Bathing Guides Janice Barrett and Anne Markham Bailey will offer invitations for connections to participants. Following each invitation period of exploration, participants will gather for a sharing circle. After the final session, the Guides offer tea and snacks.
Guides: Janice Barrett is a Forest Bathing Guide, painter, conservationist, and lover of wild places. Anne Markham Bailey is an ANFT Certified Forest Bathing Guide, poet, author, and awareness educator.
