Whether you’re picking up a Mahjong tile for the first time or looking to build your confidence at the table, Mahjong in the Garden offers a welcoming experience for every skill level. Join certified instructors from Wanna Mahj on the private patio of Murray Hall, where you’ll enjoy expert instruction surrounded by the beauty of the Garden.

Each session includes light snacks and refreshments, along with all the materials you’ll need to play, including a mat and tiles, and plenty of opportunities to ask questions, practice your skills, and connect with fellow players. Before or after your session (View Garden Hours Here), take time to explore the Garden and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Friday, October 2 | Learn to Play! Mahjong 101

• Perfect for beginners
• Start from square one as you learn the fundamentals of American Mahjong, including tile recognition, game setup, etiquette, and gameplay. No prior experience is required.

Saturday, October 3 | Learn to Play! Mahjong 102

• Build your confidence
• Designed for players who have completed Mahjong 101 or have a basic understanding of the game. Review gameplay fundamentals while learning strategy, decision-making, and techniques for playing independently with a group.

Sunday, October 4 | Guided Play

• Practice with instructor support
• Put your skills into action during a guided game while Wanna Mahj instructors provide tips, answer questions, and help you gain confidence as you play.
