Each year, monarch butterflies take an incredible journey from Canada to Mexico as they seek warmer temperatures to roost over the winter months. These seemingly delicate creatures fly feverishly on pre-determined migration paths, making quick stops along the way. As part of their journey, monarchs migrate through Huntsville, Alabama, from September through mid-October.
Join us for a presentation focusing on Monarchs and their migration, followed by a release of Monarchs into the Purdy Butterfly House.

PLEASE NOTE: In the past, we participated in the Monarch Watch Tagging Program by tagging and releasing Monarch butterflies raised by regional breeders. However, based on updated scientific findings indicating that captive-raised Monarchs are less successful at migrating, we no longer take part in this process.
