The Ancient Tones – with opener Jack Ellis


Ancient Tones is a vibrant and dynamic group hailing from the great State of Alabama. Formed in 2024, the band consists of six talented musicians: Sharon Bounds, fiddle and vocals, Jesse Lindsey Smith, guitar and vocals, Todd Freeman, Bass and vocals, Rick Rorex, mandolin and vocals, Alan Tolbert, guitar and vocals, and Weston Stewart on banjo
Blending genres like Bluegrass, Country, Gospel, Newgrass and Jazz, they create a unique sound that resonates with fans across a wide spectrum of audiences. Known for their solid harmonies, blazing instrumentals and soulful singing, Ancient Tones have quickly made a name for themselves in the Southeastern music scene.
With influences ranging from JD Crowe, Merle Haggard, Tony Rice, David Grisman, Flatt & Scruggs and Vassar Clements, their music is a testament to the power of what drives Ancient Tones. As they continue to grow and evolve, Ancient Tones is dedicated to bringing their authentic sound to audiences everywhere.
OPENER: Jack Ellis – Bringing his own complementary music to open for Ancient Tones, longtime HTMA member Jack Ellis shares his love of American folk music and songs of Appalachia, Irish ballads, and old-time gospel with regional audiences. His selections range from the music of the Carter Family and Woody Guthrie to protest songs from generations past.
Tickets available in advance on the Event Calendar at Huntsvillefolk.org; members = $20, non-members = $25. Doors will open for ticketed guests at 6:15. Lowe Mill Studio #1038, enter via Door 4.
