Reading time: 1 minute

City of Madison’s annual street sweeping is set to begin today. The goal of the street sweeping program is to improve the quality of stormwater runoff by removing any contaminants from the streets before they can reach the storm system.
- When: January 5 + the next six weeks
- Hours: 7AM-6PM
Friendly reminders
The street sweeper will go over all curb + gutter streets in Madison. Make sure to keep your side of the street clean as the sweeper will drive around any blockage + will not return at a later date to resweep the area!
- Place yard debris, trash receptacles + recycling carts directly behind the curb for weekly pick-up
- Don’t throw debris in front of sweeping crews
- Don’t blow leaves into the street
- Bag large quantities of leaves for weekly trash pick-up
- Branches, shrubs + large leaf piles can damage the sweeper
- Bring trash receptacles in after collection
