Back in January, we were excited to announce Lanier House’s grand opening, and now that this Madison gem is in full swing, we’re happy to share all the inside tips for enjoying your tea time experience.

Read on to learn about seasonal menu items, the vibrant atmosphere, best times to visit and more.

The menu changes every month

I can’t imagine Lanier House topping the menu I enjoyed during my visit. Delicious BLT sandwiches, fresh smoked salmon, delectable scones, homemade banana pudding, watermelon cupcakes and more—my mouth waters just thinking about it.

But this Madison hotspot isn’t content with just having one standout menu, and they rotate their cuisine every month. This means you could go 12 times a year and get a completely different (and amazing) experience each visit.

The atmosphere is classy + vibrant

Madison’s Lanier House marries the old and the new. Plush vintage seating and traditional lighting playfully pair with fun wallpaper and hanging greenery.

While enjoying your tea, you’ll hear modern pop favorites remixed into classical tunes, creating an environment where all ages can come together.

Personal service is one of Lanier House’s top priorities. Upon arriving to the tea room, staff members greet you warmly and lead you to your table. Once you are seated, they kindly explain the menu’s content and structure.

Each tier of the tray has a theme and tea to accompany it. Check out the tea pairings I enjoyed during my visit:

  • Savory course—English Breakfast Tea
  • Scones + breads—Lemon Mint Tea
  • Desserts—Watermelon Tea

The Lanier House team explained why each tea paired well with its tier and which could benefit from a bit of cream. Each reservation runs 1.5 hours, so they’re able to take their time with each group of guests.

But keep in mind that Saturdays are the the tea room’s busiest day, so if you want the most relaxing experience, visit Tuesday-Friday.

Summer weekdays are the perfect days for tea time—book your reservation online.
