Exploring on a budget: how to spend a day in downtown Huntsville for $30 or less
Reading time: 2 minutes

As a college student, I’m always on the hunt for fun things to do that won’t break the bank.
Huntsville has plenty of budget-friendly spots to grab great food, explore the city and support local businesses.
Here’s how to spend a day with just $30!
Piper and Leaf

Kickstart your day with a tea run—my go-to is the Iced Velvet Bliss.
With prices ranging from $5 to $9, these teas are a perfect fit for your budget!
- Where: Downtown Huntsville, Lowe Mill, Madison + Laceys Spring
- When: Monday-Saturday 9AM-7PM (Downtown Huntsville); Wednesday-Saturday 10AM-7PM (Lowe Mill); Monday-Saturday 10AM-7PM (Madison); Monday-Saturday 9AM-7PM
Big Spring Park

After getting your tea, enjoy this 1.5-mile loop—perfect for walking or jogging with plenty of sights to see.
Be sure to bring some quarters to feed the ducks along the way.
- Where: 200 Church St SW
Sam & Greg’s Pizzeria/Gelateria

Our tummies will definitely be ready for food after walking. This spot is perfect with outdoor seating to soak up the weather.
Menu items range from $8 to $25, but since we’re sticking to a budget, let’s save and go for a sandwich.
- Where: 116 Southside Square
- When: Monday-Thursday, 11AM-9PM; Friday-Saturday, 11AM-10PM; Sunday, 11AM-8PM
Big Spoon Creamery

After lunch, take a stroll over for some ice cream to satisfy your sweet tooth.
My go-to is cookies and cream, and with prices from $3.75 to $10.50, there’s a treat for our budget.
- Where: 201 Jefferson St N Suite J
- When: Sunday-Thursday, 12-9PM; Friday-Saturday, 12-10PM
Railroad Antiques

End the day by exploring the different booths. Even if it’s just window shopping, you’re sure to find some decor inspiration.
It’s also the perfect spot to spend whatever’s left of your budget!
- Where: 315 Jefferson St N
- When: Monday-Saturday, 10AM-5PM; Sunday 1-5PM
