Dreaming of sweater weather? We’re here with 16 different ways to do fall in Huntsville right, and you’ll find them all in one beautiful place: Huntsville Botanical Garden.

Well before trees start putting on their fall color shows, the Garden team always sets the stage perfectly with FestiFall. It begins with fabulous scarecrow displays and flows into a series of events designed for people of all ages and interests to connect with plants and neighbors all season long.

So look away from your thermostat, grab a PSL and use our guide to start planning how you’ll do fall in Huntsville in 2026.

Fall experiences included with admission + plant sale

1. 🔭 Interact with four immersive, outdoor installations by local artists for Nature Unframed through Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026.
2. 🐦‍⬛ Admire the creative scarecrows + fall displays made by people throughout the community on the Scarecrow Trail throughout September + October.
3. 🍃Be there for Bonsai Day on Saturday, Sept. 5 from 10AM-2PM, when you can see a wonderful display of bonsai trees + talk to their caretakers about bonsai artistry.

4. 🧑‍🌾 Start your planting now for a lovely spring garden after picking up special finds at the Fall Plant Sale, with the Member Sale set for Friday, Sept. 25 and the Public Sale on Saturday, Sept. 26. No admission is required to shop the sale.

5. 🎼 Enjoy an evening of classical + contemporary music by Southern Strings to observe the season’s arrival during the Autumn Equinox Concert in the Garden Amphitheatre on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026, 6-8PM.
6. ☕️ Slip into your favorite fall Garden party finery on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026, for the annual Harvest Tea, set from 2-3:30PM + featuring artisan tea blends from Piper & Leaf + bites from Fern & Feast + Peggy Ann Bakery.

9. 🍺 Sample local craft beer, live music + meet the brewers during Hops & Harvest from 5:30-7:30PM on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, in Cedar Glade.
10. 🪄 One of our favorite new ways to do fall in Huntsville is Spellbound at the Garden, where guests slowly stroll + socialize after dark amid spooky + mysterious lighting, sounds + scenes from Oct. 21-25 + Oct. 28-31, all beginning at 7PM + closing times varying by date.

13. ⛺️ Pitch a tent, have a hot dog dinner + roasted s’mores for dessert before exploring the Garden on a guided night hike for the Family Campout, which begins at 5PM one Friday, Sept. 18 + concludes at 8AM the next morning.
14. 🍵 Teens ages 13-17 can create their own herbal teas after strolling through the garden with a horticulture expert to learn the basics of sustainable foraging during Forage & Steep: A Teen Tea Party on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026, 3-5PM
15. 🔬 Connect your kids ages 4-12 to nature over fall break Oct. 5-9, 2026 with Autumn Explorers: STEM in the Garden, where campers will experience hands-on learning about the science behind how plants + animals change + adapt over the season.
16. 👻 A perennial fall family favorite, the Little Monsters Mash is set for Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, 10AM-1PM + features trick-or-treating the Scarecrow Trail, costume contests, live music, inflatables, face-painting, games + oodles of photo ops.
