Ready for farmers markets in Huntsville to open? We are SO ready to stroll market rows and load our baskets and bags. And of course it gets even better back at home, piling plates high with locally sourced, fresh veggies that need nothing more than a drizzle of oil and a sprinkle of salt.

On that note, we’ve gathered all the details about farmers markets in Huntsville and surrounding areas that are already open for 2026, plus dates for others opening throughout the spring.

Ayers Farm Farmers Market

Pick the prettiest flowers in spring, the perfect peaches in summer, a prized pumpkin in fall and a traditional tree for Christmas at Ayers Farm Farmers Market, now open throughout the year. Hot tip: CSA subscriptions opened Feb. 16.

The Grid

Goods at The Grid just off U.S. Route 431 in Owens Cross Roads include a variety of produce; fresh eggs and farm-raised animal meats; many bakery items from breads to cakes and turnover pies; snacks and sauces like ceviche, salsa and guacamole; and locally produced soaps, skin-care products and wool yarn. Onsite coffee roasting is coming soon.

The Market at MidCity

Sunday Funday at The Camp gets even better with the mid-March arrival of The Market at MidCity, which marks its eighth season this year. Socialize and shop among more than 50 “farmers, bakers and makers” to the sounds of live music.

The Providence Market

The season kicks off with an Easter party this year at The Providence Market on Saturday, March 28. It’s all about connecting with the community in a lively, family-friendly atmosphere at this market. Besides shopping with vendors selling produce, baked goods, arts and crafts, you can play lawn games, visit with farm friends and more.

Bailey Cove Farmers Market at St. Thomas

Among the many cool things about this market is that it matches the Alabama Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program with market bucks. If you’ve not heard of the ASFMNP, it gives eligible seniors a $50 benefit card to buy fresh fruits and veggies at certified markets.

While many markets honor the benefit, it doubles at this one!

Madison City Farmers Market

Raise your gourmet game with unique, locally sourced ingredients from the Madison City Farmers Market, where everything available is grown or made in the Tennessee Valley.

NEW this year: Homemade ice cream just as soon as the weather warms up. Piper and Leaf Tea Co. will also return for 2026.

Morgan County-Decatur Farmers Market

The new Decatur-Morgan County Farmers Market opened last April in a sparkling building with plenty of parking, level surfaces and a lush lawn space. Shop a variety of vendors selling fresh produce, plants, baked goods, meats, and some arts and craft items.

Madison County Farmers Market

Experience an original with the oldest farmers’ market in the state. This market originated in the basement of the Madison County Courthouse in 1814! Now it’s comfortably located in a spacious building constructed in 1984.

You probably already know to make a beeline to Huntsville Botanical Garden as soon as the blooms burst forth each spring. Adding an extra dash of delight in the warmer months? The garden’s popular Roots & Shoots Farmers’ Market in the Grisham Pavilion.

Athens Farmers Market at Doug Gates Park

This Alabama Certified Farmers Market underwent more than $800,000 in upgrades in 2024, and the community loved the improved space throughout the 2025 season.
