Who’s ready for farmers market season? We are already thinking about piling our plates with locally sourced, fresh veggies that need nothing more than a drizzle of oil and a sprinkle of salt.

Nothing like warmer weather and a bit of sunshine to put us all in a spring state of mind!

Ayers Farm Farmers Market

Sunday Funday at The Camp gets even better with the mid-March arrival of The Market at MidCity, which marks its seventh season this year. Socialize and shop among more than 50 “farmers, bakers and makers” to the sounds of live music.

Raise your gourmet game with unique, locally sourced ingredients from the Madison City Farmers Market, where everything available is grown or made in the Tennessee Valley.

The Providence Market

It’s all about connecting with the community in a lively, family-friendly atmosphere at The Providence Market. Besides shopping with market vendors selling produce, baked goods, arts and crafts, you can play lawn games, visit with farm friends and more.

Madison County Farmers Market

Experience an original with the oldest farmers market in the state. This market originated in the basement of the Madison County Courthouse in 1814! Now in a spacious building constructed in 1984, this market co-anchors the same space as Ayers Farms Farmers Market noted above.

Kids love the weekly children’s activity at this late-afternoon market, which also features live music for every event. It’s a great pick for connecting with local farmers and enjoying the fruits of their laborβ€”and veggies, too.

Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment Outdoor Market

Expect the unexpected at Outdoor Market at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment. Much more than a farmers market with produce, plants and prepared foods, the event showcases vendors selling items including artwork, handmade candles, jewelry and more.

Bailey Cove Farmers Market at St. Thomas

Among the many cool things about this market is it matches the Alabama Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program with market bucks. If you’ve not heard of the ASFMNP, it gives eligible seniors a $50 benefit card to buy fresh fruits and veggies at certified markets.

While many markets honor the benefit, it doubles at this one!

This Alabama Certified Farmers Market underwent more than $800,000 in upgrades last year, and the community can’t wait to welcome folks to enjoy it all this season. Take in the fresh surroundings and listen to music while you shop produce, prepared foods and artisanal goods, all from an 80-mile radius.

This market opening is likely to bump up to May when Spring Market Saturday dates are announced. For now, we know the regular season for sure!

Morgan County-Decatur Farmers Market

While it’s not yet confirmed the new Decatur-Morgan County Farmers Market will open in April, that hopeful timeframe is the last word we’ve heard from the Morgan County Commission. Meanwhile, folks have been watching the progress as the impressive, all-new market takes shape on the site of the former one.
