This weekend is supposed to bring some sunny weather, so it’s a great weekend to get out and about in the Rocket City. With plenty of live music, theater, markets and other cool events happening around town, you’re sure to find something fun to do over the next few days.

Here are a few events we think you’d enjoy this weekend:

From a blues festival to acoustic rooftop tunes, you’re sure to find some fabulous live music events in the Rocket City this weekend. Here are a few picks:

  • Bad Camaro: Aug. 18, Stovehouse, 6PM. Enjoy this free show featuring these North Alabama rockerson the main food garden stage at Stovehouse
  • Rocket City Blues & BBQ Festival: Aug. 19, Orion Amphitheater, 1PM. The Rocket City Blues and BBQ Festival brings the perfect combination of amazing food, music and community to Huntsville.
  • Mikey Clams: Aug. 19, Rhythm on Monroe, 6PM. Enjoy a rooftop evening experience with a performance by talented local artist Mikey Clams.
  • Summer Night Symphony: Aug. 19, Cavalry Hill Neighborhood Center, 7:30PM. The Huntsville Symphony Orchestra presents a performance spotlighting pieces from Black artists.
  • Ultimate Elvis Tribute: Aug. 20, Von Braun Center, 6:30PM. Catch Elvis tribute performers Shawn Klush, Cody Ray Slaughter and Ryan Pelton as they play your favorite Elvis hits.

If you want to see some live theater, you can. If you want to catch a cool radio expo, you can do that as well. If you are looking for a farmers market in town, you can find that also. Check out these events in the Rocket City this weekend:

  • Madison County Farmers Market: Aug. 19, 1022 Cook Avenue, 8AM-4PM. Get fresh produce, baked goods, trinkets and more from local vendors.
  • Shop Black Fest: Aug. 19, Campus 805, 12PM-7PM. Shop local vendors and visit with some of Huntsville’s Black entrepreneurs at Campus 805 Saturday.
  • Lowe Mill Outdoor Market: Aug. 19, Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment, 11AM. Some of Huntsville’s best artists, makers and creators will be on hand selling their crafts at Lowe Mill.
  • Shakespeare in the Garden – A Midsummer Night’s Dream: Aug. 19, Huntsville Botanical Garden, 7:30PM. Don’t miss this awesome performance of one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays.
  • Huntsville HamFest: Aug. 19-20, Von Braun Center, 9AM-4PM. Hosted by the Huntsville Amateur Radio Club, this event has a long tradition attracting HAM radio enthusiasts from all over the state.

Between the Huntsville City FC and some cool fitness classes, there are enough sporting events in the Rocket City this weekend to keep you busy:

  • Chupacabra Trail Race: Aug. 19, Monte Sano Trail, 7AM. This is the fourth race of the Wild Thangs Trail Series, a fabulous trail run through Monte Sano Preserve.
  • Swing Through 5k: Aug. 19, Calhoun Community College, 8AM. The Swing Through 5k is a certified, flat course, perfect for runners looking to set a personal record or for walkers who want to enjoy a beautiful morning. 
  • Huntsville City FC vs. Philadelphia Union: Aug. 19, Joe Davis Stadium, 7PM. Cheer on the Huntsville City FC for their home game against Philly!
  • Swim Hobbs Island: Aug. 20, Ditto Landing, 7AM. Experience the 8th Annual Swim Hobbs Island open-water swim through the Tennessee River hosted by the Team Rocket Triathlon Club.
  • AVP Adult Coed Doubles Tourney: Aug. 20, John Hunt Park, 8:30AM. This beach volleyball tournament is challenging and fun, and John Hunt Park is the perfect venue for it!
