If you work on Redstone Arsenal, expect more traffic than usual starting July 6, as Gate 3 will be temporarily closing due to staffing shortages.

Gate 3 is temporarily closing at Redstone Arsenal due to an unforeseen reduction in the Department of the Army Security Guard workforce, combined with strict hiring regulations in place which limit their ability to quickly fill vacancies.

This gate was specifically chosen for closure by the Arsenal because of a traffic study, which revealed that it accommodates less than one-third of the traffic volume seen at other gates. Redstone Arsenal is doing everything it can to resolve this issue as quickly as possible, but right now there is no timetable for Gate 3’s reopening.

The Arsenal deliberately set the closure start date as Monday, July 6, to give employees and visitors adequate time to plan alternate routes, specifically naming gates 1 + 10 as new suggested entry points.
