Ground broken on Madison City Schools’ new elementary school

City officials joined Madison City Schools in breaking ground on the school system’s eighth elementary school. The school will be built in the Madison Branch subdivision off of Hardiman Road.

The recent groundbreaking ceremony included superintendent Dr. Ed Nichols, Mayor Paul Finley, school board and city council members and other business and political reps at the site in Limestone County.
The new school cannot open soon enough, as fast-growing Madison City Schools recently surpassed 13,000 in enrollment, with still many approved homesites awaiting construction.
Here are some tidbits on the new elementary school:
- The school ‘s address is 200 Madison Branch Blvd, which is west of the roundabout on Hardiman Road just past Burgreen Road.
- The new school will have room for 1,000 students.
- Opening is targeted for the start of the 2026-2027 school year.
- The school district will have to make zoning changes before the new school opens.
- The school will be the eighth elementary school in Madison and 15th school campus overall.
- MCS invited stakeholders to submit name recommendations for the new school. No decision has been made yet.
