Ground was broken this week on a new Clearview Cancer Institute facility in Decatur. The $54 million cancer center is being built on a 5.3-acre site on Sixth Avenue Southeast.
Here’s what we know:
New Decatur cancer center will serve immediate need

The Decatur City Council approved an incentive plan for the new CCI facility back in February, which allocated $250,000 toward utility relocation.
The 57,500-square-foot, two-story cancer center will replace CCI’s current Decatur facility on 14th Avenue. Officials with CCI said in February the organization had “outgrown” its current facility, and the need for a larger facility with more care options was overdue.
Scheduled to open in 2026, the new center will offer advanced treatment options closer to home, aiming to make care more convenient and comprehensive for local residents. Capabilities include:
- Space for lab work
- A large radiation area
- Large imaging area for MRIs
- Extra space for patient care.
Currently, CCI operates 13 cancer treatment locations throughout North Alabama.
