This weekend is a holiday weekend, so you shouldn’t have to look far for fun stuff to do in and around Huntsville. Obviously, college football starts this weekend so some of you may be parked in front of the TV at some point or another Saturday, but there’s plenty to do when you do get out of the house.

Here are some suggestions:

1. Rocket City Trash Pandas vs. Tennessee Smokies

The Trash Pandas host the Tennessee Smokies for all weekend. Friday and Saturday night’s games will be followed by fireworks, and the Sunday afternoon game includes a camo blanket giveaway.

2. Dad Party at Straight to Ale

Whether you’re a dad, know a dad, or just love dad humor, this party is for everyone — there’s a dad joke contest, “Dad-rock” karaoke and more cool “dad” events.

3. Madison Farmers Market

Get yourself some fresh produce, baked goods, sweet treats and other locally made/grown goods at the Madison City Farmers Market.

4. 5th Annual Rock-It City Bonspiel 

Curling is one of the fastest-growing Olympic sports in the country, and the Rocket City Curling Club is Alabama’s first and largest curling league. Come out and see this Bonspiel and learn more about this fabulous sport.

5. Outdoor Market at Lowe Mill

Dozens of local makers will be on hand at Lowe Mill Saturday for the Outdoor Market, featuring arts and crafts of all kinds, gifts, trinkets, clothing and more.

6. Rocket City Mimosa Fest

Who doesn’t love a mimosa? Well, celebrate this refreshing beverage at The Camp Saturday while listening to 10 different DJs, enjoying some good food and a pleasant atmosphere.

7. OktobeeZrfest

Head to BeeZr and enjoy live music, German craft beer and delicious food throughout the day in Downtown Huntsville.

8. Clinton Row 10th Anniversary

Celebrate the 10th anniversary of the shops at Clinton Row downtown, with the opening of the new art gallery, new shops and more.

9. Tipper + Friends

Come out to the Orion Amphitheater this weekend for one of the final Tipper tours, featuring their first (mostly seated) event format since prior to the pandemic — following the familiar recipe of Friday Bangers/ Saturday Downtempo/Sunday Ambient. 

10. The Tavern Preachers

The Tavern Preachers are a North Alabama based southern rock band that started playing together in January of 2022. The band plays a mix of country, southern rock, soul and blues. 

11. 80s Dance Party

Put on your parachute pants, spray that hair and re-live the wild 1980s at the Prohibition 80s Dance Party.

12. 17th Annual Caribbean Day

John Hunt Park is the site of the 17th Annual Caribbean Day, featuring live music, local vendors, a petting zoo, fun kids activities and more.

13. The Market at MidCity

Browse local vendors, listen to some live music, eat some food from a local food truck and get in some great people-watching at MidCity.

14. Jazz in the Park

The Jazz in the Park series begins this weekend, with a performance Sunday from Jackiem Joyner.

Enjoy a soulful poetic night of spoken word and open mic with live band at The Hideaway Bar & Grill.
