Here’s the new 2026-27 Madison City Schools calendar

The 2026-27 school year starts in just a few weeks (believe it or not), and as parents and teachers prepare for the new school year alongside the students, it might be good to know the important dates for each system.
We have put together the school calendars for each system in the Huntsville area, including Madison City Schools.
Take a look at the calendar for the upcoming school year (and let us know if we have any dates listed incorrectly):
Here’s the 2026-27 school calendar for Madison City Schools
- July 31-August 5: Teacher Work Days
- August 6: First Day of School
- September 7: Labor Day/No School
- October 5-9: Fall Break/No School
- October 14: PreACT for 10th grade; e-learning for 9th/11th/12th grades
- October PSAT for 9th/10th/11th grades; e-learning for 12th grade
- November 11: Veterans Day/No School
- November 25-27: Thanksgiving Break/No School
- December 17-18: Half-Days
- December 21-January 1, 2027: Christmas Break
- January 5: Local/District PD
- January 6: Students Return
- January 18: MLK Holiday/No School
- February 10: Half Day
- February 15: Presidents’ Day/ No School
- March 15-19: Spring Break
- April 6: ACT for 11th grade; e-learning for 10th/12th grades
- April 14: Half Day
- May 17: Graduated Days; e-learning for all students
- May 24-25: Half-Days
- May 26: Teacher Work Day
