Here’s the 2026-27 academic calendar for Decatur City Schools

The 2026-27 school year starts in just a few weeks (believe it or not), and as parents and teachers prepare for the new school year alongside the students, it might be good to know the important dates for each system.
We have put together the school calendars for each system in the Huntsville area, including Decatur Schools.
Take a look at the calendar for the upcoming school year (and let us know if we have any dates listed incorrectly):
- August 6: First Day of School
- September 4: E-learning Day
- September 7: Labor Day/No School
- October 8-12: Fall Break/No School
- November 11: Veterans Day/No School
- November 23-27: Thanksgiving Break/No School
- December 18: Half Day
- December 21-January 5, 2027: Christmas Break
- January 6: Students return from Christmas Break
- January 18: MLK Holiday/No School
- February 12: E-learning Day
- February 15: Presidents’ Day/ No School
- March 15-19: Spring Break
- March 26: Professional Development
- April 30: Weather Day
- May 24-25: Graduation days
- May 26: Last day for students
