Here’s how to celebrate National Pi Day in the Rocket City
Reading time: 3 minutes

Those of you who are mathematically inclined–and let’s face it, here in Huntsville a bunch of folks are–likely realize that March 14 is National Pi Day. This, of course, is a play on the approximate value of pi (3.14), the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter.
Whether you are a math nerd or not, enjoying National Pi Day with a delicious slice of pie is a must this Friday. Here are some cool spots to do so:
1. Moon Bakeshop

The Moon Bakeshop is a family-owned bakery in Downtown Huntsville featuring Southern-influenced and European-inspired baked goods. I recommend the chocolate pie.
2. Little Dipper Bakery + Cafe

Located on Whitesburg Drive near Huntsville Hospital, the Little Dipper Bakery & Cafe is a unique little spot with delicious pies (and a great variety of them as well) and excellent local service.
3. City Cafe Diner

Some of the most aesthetically pleasing pies in town are at the legendary City Cafe Diner in Huntsville. They have a wide selection of pies–from pecan and blueberry to lemon and chocolate–and you can order by the slice or by the pie.
4. Suzanne’s Bakery + Eatery
Anyone who has spent any time in Athens knows how special this little spot is. Known for a variety of sweet treats and savory dishes, Suzanne’s also serves up some fabulous pie.
5. Big Bob Gibson’s BBQ
Of course the home of the original Alabama white sauce is known more for barbecue than desserts, but if you haven’t tried the pie at Big Bob Gibson’s in Decatur, you are really missing out.
