How to celebrate National Tapioca Day here in Huntsville

June 28th is National Tapioca Day, and what better way to celebrate than a cup of iced boba tea? Pick from the list down below.

What is tapioca?

In the United States, tapioca is only known for a couple things. The first thing that comes to mind is probably tapioca pudding, or maybe it’s tapioca pearls (boba).

It gained popularity by being known as a gluten free flour that can be used to thicken or as an alternative to other flours.

Tapioca is extracted from the cassava root, native to South America. Despite its nativity, boba tea originated in Taiwan around the 1980s. This difference is due to Japanese bringing cassava to Taiwan during colonial rule. Contrary to popular belief, it was originally served HOT.
