How to spend a fall morning downtown as a college student
Reading time: 4 minutes
If you’re a college student like me, you know that campus is not always the ideal setting for getting your work done. The rise of remote classes and assignments emphasizes the need for different settings even more.
With the end of the semester fast approaching, finding cozy and engaging atmospheres is crucial to pushing through the finals grind.
Thankfully, there are many places throughout Huntsville that can brighten your fall mornings while you plod through your academic workload.
From personal experience, downtown Huntsville is one of the best places to work remotely for the following reasons:
Table of Contents
Tasty brunch options
Starting your fall morning with a delicious meal is key to maintaining motivation throughout the day. Luckily, downtown has no shortage of brunch options for the local college student.
Here are a few downtown spots to consider for your morning pick-me-up:
- Commerce Kitchen (on weekends)
- Honest Coffee Roasters
- Mason Dixon Bakery & Bistro
- The Cozy Cow
- The Moon Bakeshop
Out of these choices, my personal favorite is the Cozy Cow.
The menu contains a broad selection of breakfast and lunch sandwiches, wraps, melts, burgers, smoothies and more.
Every time I’ve been to the Cozy Cow, the customer service has been excellent, and the charming atmosphere has always added a little extra positive energy to my day.
Their breakfast sandwiches pair really well with a signature smoothie. I highly recommend their Buffalo Chicken Wrap and Peach Paradise smoothie for a later brunch.
Relaxing study spots
Whether you choose to tackle your homework indoors or outdoors, downtown has plenty of options to choose from. Getting brunch is as great of an excuse to enjoy indoor aesthetic work atmospheres.
However, the views in Big Spring Park make working outdoors an absolute treat.
With plenty of benches scattered around nicely shaded areas, Big Spring is made for college students to take advantage of Huntsville’s beautiful fall mornings.
If you’re a student like me that spends the majority of your days on a laptop, building in outdoors time is crucial to maintaining long-term health (and sanity).
Built-in breaks
Perhaps the most rewarding part about spending a fall morning in downtown is the fact you’ll be able to get in your steps, avoid computer hypnosis and rest your mind in between assignments.
The Huntsville Museum of Art is nearby for students who need extra inspiration (or a longer break). You can also spend some time feeding the ducks or witnessing their frequent shenanigans.
I can tell you just how great of a working space downtown can be, but you’ll only really know when you try it out for yourself.
Fellow students, be sure to add downtown to your list of potential work spaces. We wish you a great rest of the semester!
