For the third consecutive year, the Huntsville International Airport set a record for passenger traffic in 2025, with 1.7 million passengers traveling in and out of HSV during the year.

Airport leadership credited collaboration with airline partners, infrastructure investments and the region’s economic momentum for the strong results.

Airport officials said the record-setting year was driven by expanded capacity and strong performance from the three legacy airlines (Delta, United and American) and two ultra-low-cost carriers (Breeze and Allegiant) with new non-stop flight destinations and low-cost flights.

“Our airline partners have stepped up this year adding five new nonstop destinations, increasing frequency to Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, Houston, Orlando and Tampa, and flying larger planes with greater seating capacity to meet demand.”

Butch Roberts, Chief Executive Officer of Huntsville International Airport

Here’s how HSV’s passenger traffic has looked over the last five years::

  • 2025: 1,722,898 passengers
  • 2024: 1,635,589 passengers
  • 2023: 1,473,629 passengers
  • 2022: 1,201,105 passengers
  • 2021: 940,830 passengers

The 2023 record-breaking total surpassed the previous record of 1,445,365 passengers, set in 2019.

“This historic milestone is a clear signal that our North Alabama community is growing and that travelers value the air service they can find at Huntsville International Airport.

By continuing strategic investment in infrastructure to modernize our Airport and improve the passenger experience, we ensure that Huntsville International Airport remains a powerful economic engine and a critical asset attracting business, talent and opportunity to our region.”

Joey Ceci, Board Chair of the Huntsville-Madison County Airport Authority
