Our friends at Huntsville Animal Services (HAS) will be putting on 4 patriotic‑themed pet adoption events throughout August under its 2026 banner, “Stars, Stripes and Second Chances”.
This is in celebration of National Clear the Shelters Month. Huntsville Animal Services will be offering special promotions + waiving adoption fees on specific dates. Check out the events:
- Sat, August 8: Adopt on the Spot at Woody Anderson Ford | 10AM-1PM | Dog and cat adoptions with onsite HAS support
- August 10-15: Waived adoption fees—keep an eye on HAS Facebook + Instagram for details
- August 17-22: HAS appreciation week celebrates Life, Liberty and the Paw-suit of Happiness
- Fri, August 28: Slumber Paw-ty at Huntsville Animal Services | 5-10PM | Celebrate late‑night adoptions, waived fees, food trucks and hourly social media challenges—pajamas are encouraged!
Since its inception in 2015, National Clear the Shelters Month has helped over 1.3 million animals escape a shelter life and find their forever home.

How can I help Huntsville Animal Services?
Adoption is a great way to assist Huntsville Animal Services, and there will be plenty of opportunities in August if that’s what you’re looking for. But, there are also other ways you can help.
They offer two different programs that let you care for an animal without taking on official ownership. These are the foster-to-rehome and sleep-over programs, with more information being found on the HAS website.
