There is nothing quite like enjoying the arts, and Huntsville has plenty of opportunities throughout the year to enjoy them. With organizations like the Broadway Theatre League and Huntsville Ballet Company, Huntsville residents can see first-hand some of the most beloved stage performances of all time.
Both organizations recently released their schedules for the 2023-2-24 seasons, and they are both packed full of amazing productions:
Huntsville Ballet
Huntsville Ballet kicks off its 2023-24 season — its 60th season — October 27 with their “Unplugged” production featuring “Peter and the Wolf” and artistic director Philip Otto’s original production, “Amore.”
This event will be followed by three more productions spanning through April. Here’s the 2023-24 schedule:
- Unplugged (“Peter & the Wolf”, “Amore”): Oct. 27-29, Dream Theatre. In 2019, Otto commissioned local composer Jackson Love to create the score for “Amore,” the acclaimed ballet inspired by the exquisite work of Huntsville’s own renowned jewelry artist, Kathy Chan.
- The Nutcracker: Dec. 8-10, Mark C. Smith Concert Hall. December and “The Nutcracker” go hand-in-hand. This is Huntsville Ballet’s 54th production of the famous ballet, performed again this year with The Huntsville Symphony Orchestra.
- Dancers Choice Series: Feb. 23-25, Huntsville Ballet. Although technically not part of the 2023-24 season ticket package, the Dancers Choice Series gives Huntsville Ballet Company members the opportunity to choreograph and perform in genres of their choice in the intimate setting of the Huntsville Ballet studio.
- Swan Lake Act II: April 19-21, Mark C. Smith Concert Hall. Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake” is one of the most iconic ballets of all time, and this is an amazing performance of the classic work.
