Huntsville Botanical Garden nominated as one of North America’s best
Anyone who has visited the Huntsville Botanical Garden already knows how special it is, and now the garden has received national recognition as it was recently nominated by USA Today for their Reader’s Choice Award for Best Botanical Garden.
Readers can vote for the best in North America, and thus far, Huntsville is making a good showing in the voting, which lasts through May 23.
Well-deserved recognition for Huntsville Botanical Garden
Huntsville Botanical Garden was chosen along with 20 botanical gardens in the United States, and for good reason. The 112-acre facility, which opened in 1988, is open year-round and offers a variety of diverse ecosystems for guests of all ages to enjoy and explore.
The garden includes a seasonal open-aired butterfly house, a dogwood trail, a fern glade, 14 themed herb gardens, four model gardens with suggestions for the home gardener and a nature trail with paths through an indigenous lowland forest.
Aquatic, annual, day lily, perennial, rose and wildflower gardens are also part of this community’s garden that works to take leadership roles in local sustainability issues. As well, Huntsville Botanical Garden recently finished Phase 2 of Tweetsville, a section of the facility dedicated to bird-watching.
