Huntsville experienced 2nd hottest July on record

Anyone who spent any time in the Huntsville area last month knows that temperatures were brutally hot, but did you know that July’s heat was actually at historic levels?
That’s right. July 2025 was the second hottest July in Huntsville’s history. Here’s the breakdown:
Hot July makes Huntsville history

According to the National Weather Service, Huntsville’s average temperature in July this year was 83.9 degrees. This is tied for the second highest average temperature for any July in recorded history here in the Rocket City.
Here’s where July 2025 ranks among the hottest July averages on record:
- 84.2° (July 2022)
- 83.9° (July 2025)
- 83.9° (July 1930)
- 83.7° (July 1966)
- 83.7° (July 2010)
Only one day of the month, July 19, failed to reach 90 degrees. As far as the warmest months ever, this past July tied for third all time.

Accuweather forecasts for August show high temperatures a little lower than what we experienced in July. But “low” is a sliding scale. We are still expected to see highs in the upper 80s and low 90s this month.
