U.S. News & World Report looked at migration trends based on internet searches and interest in specific cities and states to compile a list of the most sought-after cities in the country.

The report shows that migration towards southern states is trending upward due to warmer climates, lower cost of living, growing job markets, affordable housing, relaxed lifestyle and lower population densities in southern states.

The U.S. News & World Report list has these cities as the 10 most sought-after cities:

  1. Bluffton, South Caroline
  2. Portland, Maine
  3. Myrtle Beach, South Caroline
  4. Lansing, Michigan
  5. Meridian, Idaho
  6. Huntsville, Alabama
  7. Clermont, Florida
  8. Greenville, South Carolina
  9. Winston-Salem, North Carolina
