North Alabama’s own Stewart Cink has been named the PGA Champions Tour Player of the Year for 2025. The Huntsville native garnered the award after a strong year in only his second full year on the tour.
Here’s what his 2025 looked like:
- 2025 Charles Schwab Cup Champion
- 2025 Jack Nicklaus Award (Player of the Year)
- 2025 Arnold Palmer Award (season money winner)
- Scoring average: 68.77 (2nd)
- Winnings: $3,247,147 (1st)
- 3 victories (Insperity Invitational, The Ally Challenge, Charles Schwab Cup Championship)
- 15 top-10 finishes in 21 starts
Cink, who was born in Huntsville and went to Bradshaw High School in Florence, won his first professional event in 1996. He had eight PGA Tour wins including one Major, winning The Open Championship in 2009.
“I am thrilled to be named PGA TOUR Champions Player of the Year and to receive the prestigious Jack Nicklaus Award. It is humbling to think of some of the game’s all-time greats who have earned this honor before me, and to know it came by a vote of my peers makes it even more special.
I began the 2025 season with the lofty goal of winning the Charles Schwab Cup. Realizing that goal and now being voted Player of the Year will rank among the very top of my career achievements. I am incredibly blessed to compete on PGA TOUR Champions and excited to begin the 2026 season.”
