Huntsville selected for $2.7 million funding award to fight homelessness

On Tuesday, Governor Ivey announced that a total of $2.7 million was awarded to various Alabama cities + organizations, with Huntsville included amongst them.

Neighboring areas awarded include:

  • Florence | $400,100
  • Marshall County Home Place Inc. (Guntersville) | $42,500

Huntsville’s Plan

Huntsville was awarded a total of $450,000 from the Emergency Solutions Grant program to assist those at risk of becoming homeless + those who are without a home.

The city will deliver street outreach, emergency shelter, homelessness prevention + rapid rehousing services for individuals experiencing homelessness + victims of domestic violence across Limestone, Madison + Morgan counties.

Partner agencies include AshaKiran, Community Action Partnership, Crisis Services Center, Downtown Rescue Mission Family Services Center Inc., First Stop + New Futures.
