Huntsville will be the site of NCAA events for cross country and soccer over the next few years, underscoring the growing recognition of John Hunt Park’s world-class cross country course and soccer facilities, as well as the top-notch renovations to Joe Davis Stadium.

The AVCA Fall Collegiate Beach Championships are coming to John Hunt Park Nov. 15-17, and the Rocket City Classic, featuring the University of Alabama taking on the University of Memphis on the basketball court — is taking place at Propst Arena Oct. 28

So far, here’s what else the city has coming:

  • 2024 Division II South Regional – Cross Country
  • 2025 Division I South Regional – Cross Country
  • 2026 Division II South Regional – Cross Country
  • 2027 Division I South Regional – Cross Country
  • 2027 Division II National Championship – Cross Country
  • 2027 Division II Men’s & Women’s Soccer National Championship

“Thanks to the NCAA and the championships committees on the opportunity to host these national and regional championships. We have great facilities at John Hunt Park and Joe Davis Stadium with partners that make our city a great destination to host these events.

I’m extremely proud of the hard work our team has done over the years to get in the conversation to host a national championship and look forward to using this platform to showcase Huntsville over the course of the next few years.”

The City has already hosted the Conference USA men’s and women’s basketball tournament, and this month will host the Rocket City Classic basketball game — between the University of Alabama and the University of Memphis.

Huntsville Sports Commission officials said the selection of Huntsville to host these prestigious events showcases the city’s ability to accommodate and execute large-scale championships.
