Are you a fan of ice cream, atmosphere + a good old time? Well, you’re in luck! Fizzy Flapper, a new old-fashioned ice cream parlor, opened today in Studio 2060 at Lowe Mill.

The parlor is a new addition to the Mill’s second floor and a sister shop to Dragon Forge Cafe that has called Lowe Mill home since 2021.

Our Menu Highlights

The menu features a myriad of options, including their signature ice cream scoops, sundaes and floats. Many of their items feature 1920s-related names. Some of our favorites on the menu were their:

  • 🌭Bell Tree Dog: Conecuh sausage link with moonshine BBQ sauce, sweet pickles, kraut + fried onions
  • 🍌Moon Pie Split: Chocolate + banana moon pies with banana vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, cherries + hot fudge
  • 🍨Rip Roarin’ Sundae: Vanilla ice cream topped with hot fudge, whipped cream, peanuts + a cherry

Fizzy Flapper also makes old-fashioned sodas in-house as well as a rotating variety of cakes and pies. This week, they have a lemon blueberry cake and nectarine pie on the menu.

Retro Vibes

We loved the retro design of the area and employees at Fizzy Flapper. Their invitation for customers to “step back into time with classic, old fashioned treats” clearly extends to the aesthetic qualities of the shop. The décor, seating, and music of the shop all contribute to the 1920s feel.

“I loved the old-fashioned aesthetic, and I loved the ice cream even more!”

If you’re not in for a long stay, the spot also has to-go options, including an impressive array of mix-and-match penny candies and old-fashioned bottled sodas. They make it easy to drop into the past and return to the comfort of home to enjoy old-timey treats.
