In 2009, several home brewers founded Straight to Ale brewing in Huntsville, and quickly gained attention with their popular brews, such as the Monkeynaut India Pale Ale. Seven years later, the team opened a brand new, 45,000 square-foot facility at Campus 805, a craft brewing center and entertainment venue in West Huntsville.

At their new home, Straight to Ale opened a new distillery called Shelta Cavern Spirits, named after the Shelta Cave in Huntsville. Shelta Cavern Spirits currently distills Absinthe, Spiced Rum, Whiskey, Gin and Vodka.

Here’s what Wine Enthusiast had to say about Shelta Cavern Spirits’ Vodka in 2020:

“Made from malt-ed barley and wheat, look for distinct fruity notes on nose and palate. It’s not the absolute neutrality some seek in vodka, but it’s still pleasant, light and soft with tinges of coconut and cinnamon heat into the finish.”
