Southern California-based In-N-Out Burger opened two new locations in Tennessee today, prompting the question, “Are they headed to Alabama?”

In-N-Out has been mentioned frequently over the last several years when Alabamians are asked what new brands they would like to see come to the state. So perhaps the venture into the South means something new for Alabama…

In-N-Out opens 2 locations in Tennessee

The fast food burger chain today opened stores in Antioch and Lebanon, which are part of the Nashville metro. This makes Tennessee the 10th state In-N-Out has a presence, and the first in the deep south. A Murfreesboro location is opening Friday.

A regional headquarters is expected to open in Franklin, Tennessee next year. According to the company, new Tennessee locations are planned for:

  • Mt. Juliet
  • Madison
  • Knoxville
  • Chattanooga
  • Memphis
  • Clarksville
  • Cookeville
  • Jackson
  • Morristown
  • Tri-Cities area (Bristol, Johnson City and Kingsport)

Antioch and Lebanon are just a little over two hours from Huntsville, which is a lot closer than the 12-hour drive to the next closest location in The Woodlands, Texas.

With these new locations so close to the Alabama border, it’s entirely possible for the chain to venture further south.

In-N-Out CEO Lynsi Snyder said other states will eventually be included in the company’s plan, and that expansion is expected.

“Moving into Tennessee provides our In-N-Out Associates wonderful opportunities to buy a home and raise a family and be a part of our expansion in a different part of the U.S. We’ve been expanding into new states since 1992, and we’ve stayed consistent with our standards for growth.”

Currently, the new locations in Tennessee will bring the number of In-N-Out restaurants to 430 across 10 states: California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Texas, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Tennessee.
