Job Statement

Performs a variety of unskilled and semi‑skilled manual tasks related to landscaping, grounds maintenance, and general support activities. Maintains vehicles in a clean, organized, and properly stocked condition.

Essential Duties

  • Loads, unloads, and carries tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Assists in the upkeep and repair of property owned or disturbed by Huntsville Utilities and its crews.
  • Supports construction‑related activities, including:
    • Forming and pouring concrete
    • Building or repairing fences
    • Raking and preparing soil for sod
    • Sowing grass
    • Replacing damaged trees and shrubs
  • Places cones in roadways to protect personnel and vehicles; flags traffic as instructed.
  • Stocks trucks with water, tools, supplies, and equipment.
  • Cleans tools and job sites upon completion of work.
  • Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Completes other duties as assigned based on skills and abilities.

Job Requirements

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

  • Landscaping, grounds maintenance, and concrete work experience desirable.
  • Experience working outdoors in varying weather conditions preferred.

  • Primarily outdoor physical work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs

  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must obtain a CDL within 1 year of hire
  • This is a safety‑sensitive position; employees are subject to random drug and alcohol testing
