Labor Day weekend is just days away, and while you might be preparing to go out of town for the weekend, those of you who are staying in the Huntsville area may want to know what is open and what is closed for Labor Day.

Here’s a guide to businesses and services that are affected by the holiday weekend:

What’s closed in the Huntsville area on Labor Day

Being a federal holiday, Labor Day means all federal offices are closed, as well as all stock markets. Here are some of the closures and changes in services in the Huntsville area Monday:

Federal offices: Closed
State offices: Closed
Municipal and county offices: Most are closed
Banks: Many closed on Monday, check with your branch
U.S. Post Offices: Post offices are closed, mail will not run. Regular mail delivery and collection will resume Tuesday, July 5.
Fed Ex: Some services closed, most offices on modified schedule
UPS: Some services closed, most offices on modified schedule
Financial markets: Closed
Huntsville Museum of Art: Closed
Garbage collection: Residential collection in Huntsville will be delayed one day. Residents should leave carts at the curb until they are collected. In Madison, garbage collection will not occur on Labor Day, with the rest of the week operating on normal schedule.
Parks & Recreation: All facilities will be closed, except the Brahan Spring Park and Dr. Richard Showers, Sr., splash pads, which will be open from 10AM to 7PM.
Huntsville Museum of Art: Closed Monday.
Costco: Closed
