Legacy Loop Trail in Hickory Cove gets new bridge

Thanks to the Land Trust of North Alabama and efforts from volunteers, a new bridge has been constructed along Legacy Loop Trail, replacing an aging one.
The new bridge at Hickory Cove Nature Preserve features upgrades like handrails and a higher crossing over the creek, and is designed to provide a safer experience for everyone exploring the 1.75-mile Legacy Loop Trail.
The project started on July 28, and thanks to immense collaborative efforts, finished in a mere three days.

If you’re an avid hiker, there’s a solid chance you’ve heard of Legacy Loop Trail, which is located inside the Hickory Cove Nature Preserve.
Hickory Cove is the 10th public land preserve run by the Land Trust of North Alabama, and was created in Spring of 2023 after Concord Land Development, Inc. donated 144 acres of mountainside to the Trust.
However, Legacy Loop Trail was not created by the Land Trust—it was an already well-established trail enjoyed by many locals and mountain bikers before the land was donated.
The trail is beautiful and has plenty of interesting things to see, like the remnants of an old spring house and a massive boulder known as “Pride Rock.”
