Lockheed Martin expanding in Courtland

Lockheed Maertin already employs more than 400 people at the existing Court Land facility. The new building will increase the workforce, although no specific employee numbers have been released. The company has said it remains committed to its partnership with Courtland.
A 2023 agreement between Lockheed Martin and Courtland helped convert the town’s part-time fire department into a full-time, 24/7 emergency service with new staffing and equipment.
The company also received a $1.8 million infrastructure grant through a partnership with the State of Alabama to improve roads near the facility.
” Real progress happens when industry and community grow together, and we are proud to help build a stronger, more resilient future for Courtland and the surrounding region.”
Sarah Reeves, VP, Next Generation Interceptor Program
The company will also develop a partnership with Florence City Schools’ Launch Program to further support education and workforce readiness in the region.
The new facility is expected to open in 2026.
