Madison City Schools approves Eric Terrell as new superintendent

Madison City Schools voted to remove the “interim” title for Eric Terrell’s position as interim superintendent, a job he has held for just over a month now.
Terrell is officially the system’s permanent superintendent after the Madison City Schools Board meeting July 28.

Eric Terrell to lead Madison City Schools into the new school year + beyond
Terrell was named interim superintendent back in June after the retirement of Dr. Ed Nichols, a role he has actually assumed before (during the 2020 school year).
Terrell’s experience in the school system includes:
- Special education teacher at Liberty Middle School
- Assistant principal at Bob Jones High School
- Assistant principal at James Clemens High School
- Principal at Discovery Middle School
- Named assistant superintendent in 2017
