Madison City Schools is giving residents an opportunity to voice concerns over a proposed rezoning plan that would go into effect in the 2026-27 school year.
The 2026 opening of Russell Branch Elementary School in Limestone County necessitates a new attendance area for the system, hence a rezoning plan. Here’s what we know:

Russell Branch Elementary School will be the eighth elementary school in the school system, which means adjusting which areas of the system are designated for certain schools.
