Madison fire chief accepts new job in Virginia

Chief David Bailey of the Madison Fire & Rescue Department has accepted a new position in Virginia, according to city officials.
Effective immediately, Deputy Fire Chief Brandy Williams will serve as Acting Fire Chief, ensuring a smooth continuation of leadership and operations within the Madison Fire & Rescue Department.

The movie to Virginia means Bailey will be closer to extended family, he said. Mayor Paul Finley expressed his appreciation for Bailey’s years of service to Madison and its residents.
“We are grateful for Chief Bailey’s unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of our community and understand his desire to be closer to family. We wish him nothing but the best in this new chapter of his career.”

During Chief Bailey’s tenure in Madison, he made significant contributions to the city’s fire safety initiatives including the modernization of equipment, the expansion of fire prevention programs, as well as the addition of the Safe Haven Baby Box at Fire Station 1.
