Madison Fire + Rescue announces new Fire Chief

Madison Fire & Rescue appointed its first female Fire Chief when the Madison City Council approved the hiring of Brandy Williams to the post this week.
Williams had served in the role on an interim basis since the departure of Chief David Bailey in February.
About Madison’s new Fire Chief Brandy Williams
Williams has served with the department since 1998. She had ascended to the role of Deputy Chief in 2016. She has twice served as interim Chief.
Here’s more on Chief Brandy Williams:
- Williams began her career with Madison Fire & Rescue in 1998 as a Firefighter ll/EMT Basic.
- She was promoted to Driver in 2003, advanced to Captain in 2010, Deputy Chief in 2016.
- She was named Firefighter of the Year in 2006.
- Williams holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration and Emergency Services Management.
- She serves as President of the North Alabama Fire Chiefs Association.
- She also serves on the Alabama Firefighters Personnel Standards and Education Commission.

Williams is the fourth Fire Chief since the City of Madison established its full-time fire department in 1969.
