Getting citizens of a community involved in the local government and its leadership process only helps it flourish, and that is true for citizens of any age.

This is why Mayor Tommy Battle launched the inaugural Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council for local teens.

The Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council is a dynamic leadership and civic engagement program designed to empower high school students to serve as youth ambassadors, policy advisors and community liaisons.

The initiative is led by the Office of Multicultural Affairs and aims to provide Huntsville’s youth with meaningful opportunities to engage with local government, develop leadership skills and contribute to civic initiatives.

This council will ensure the voices of young people are not only heard but truly valued in shaping Huntsville’s future. Our students bring energy, fresh ideas and a desire to serve—all of which are essential to our continued growth as a city.”
