Mazda Toyota celebrates 1 million vehicles made in Huntsville
Reading time: 3 minutes

Just five years after the first vehicle rolled off the assembly line at Mazda Toyota Manufacturing (MTM) in Huntsville in 2021, the automaker celebrated the production of its one millionth vehicle on Wednesday, October 28.
MTM celebrated the one millionth vehicle with both popular crossovers assembled at the plant, the Mazda CX-50 and the Toyota Corolla Cross, while highlighting its 4,500 team members and its community partners that made the achievement possible.
“Reaching one million vehicles is an extraordinary accomplishment and a testament to the dedication, skill and teamwork demonstrated by our team members every day. From the day we broke ground, our team has worked tirelessly to build not only world-class vehicles, but also a culture rooted in collaboration and teamwork.”
Erik Skaggs, Senior Vice President for Mazda Toyota Manufacturing

Community leaders praise Mazda Toyota for its milestone

MTM employs approximately 4,500 people here in Huntsville, but employees are from all over North Alabama. This regional workforce has also meant that MTM has made an impact beyond just Huntsville and Limestone County.
Several local and statewide leaders were on hand and praised MTM for its contributions to the entire region.
“Mazda Toyota Manufacturing has become an invaluable part of our community and regional economy. Through their investment in local organizations, workforce development and regional partnerships, MTM continues to demonstrate what it means to be a great community partner.”
Chip Cherry, president and CEO of the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce
Huntsville mayor Tommy Battle, who was deeply involved in recruiting MTM to the area, said that seeing the one millionth vehicle roll off the line was symbolic of the hard work it took Huntsville to land the MTM plant.
“We started back in 2017 and fought hard to get this here. Then in 2018 we made the announcement that it was coming. So, to go from one car in 2021 to 1 million today is something I am extremely proud of. We are proud of everyone here at MTM.”
Mayor Tommy Battle
