Monte Sano Art Festival 2023— what to know

One of Huntsville’s most popular traditions is back this weekend, as the Monte Sano Art Festival returns for the 24th year. Set at the beautiful Monte Sano State Park, the festival features more than 100 visual artists from across the nation, local food trucks and live music.

Here’s what to know before heading up the mountain for this year’s festival:

Here are some basic details on the festival this year:

• The festival takes place Sept. 16-17 from 9AM to 5PM Saturday and 9AM to 4PM Sunday.
• Arts Huntsville does not charge admission to the festival; however, Monte Sano State Park will charge $10 per car for parking or $5 per walk-in festival attendee, cash only.
• This year the festival will welcome both new artists and festival favorites to fill the park woods adjacent to Monte Sano Lodge with shopping opportunities, as well as food trucks and musicians.
• Live music will take place at the Monte Sano Lodge and at the Pavilion.
• Food trucks on site will include Suzy’s Pops, Happi Pappi, New South Hot Dogs & Sushi, Piper & Leaf and more.
• More than 8,000 people are expected to attend the festival.

The Monte Sano Art Festival showcases a wide array of art

The festival is unique in that it features local and regional artists representing an array of disciplines and techniques — from water color to pottery to stained glass and more — and has a little something for everyone.

This year’s artists, which you can see on the Arts Huntsville website, range from jewelry makers to woodworking and come to festival from multiple states and backgrounds.
