Well, Huntsvillians, the weekend is almost upon us again and if you’re here in town you will have plenty of cool stuff to do — from live musical theater to food truck rallies and more.

There’s always plenty of live music happening in the Huntsville area, and this weekend is no exception. Here is just a sampling of live shows in and around Huntsville over the next few days:

  • 45 Surprise: July 21, Stovehouse, 7PM. 45 Surprise has a deep bench of professional musicians serving up a high-energy concoction of Americana, rock, country and pop — tinged with bluegrass.
  • Mad Hatters: July 21, Furniture Factory, 7PM. Tom Petty fans can’t miss this awesome Petty tribute band this weekend in the Rocket City.
  • Koe Wetzel: July 22, Orion Amphitheater, 7PM. This exciting artist crosses musical genres with bis country/rock style, and puts on an energetic show.
  • Invisible Summer Music Fest: July 22, Fractal Brewing, 6PM. Enjoy live music from Boozy Slufoot, Baby’s Got a Knife and more!
  • Dave Anderson: July 23, Jeff & Blues, 3PM. Enjoy the acoustic tunes of Dave Anderson at one of the best new music venues in town.

If you are looking for some live musical theater, you have a great opportunity this weekend at the Von Braun Center. Also, head to Athens for Tomato Sandwich Day (yes, that’s right). There’s plenty of cool stuff happening this weekend in the Rocket City, such as:

  • “Carrie” The Musical: July 21-23, Von Braun Center, Fri. 7PM; Sat. 2PM, 7PM; Sun. 2PM. The Stephen King horror story is brought to the musical stage.
  • Light Up the Night/Food Truck Rally: July 21, Big Spring Park, 5-9PM. Starting off with the Friday Food Truck Rally and moving into the Parks & Recreation Month celebration with dancing, glow sticks, DJs and more!
  • Back to the Felines: July 21, Orion Amphitheater, 6-9PM. This is a fun, full-out 80s-themed fundraising event benefiting the Greater Huntsville Humane Society’s efforts to build a Cat Sanctuary.
  • Athens Farmers Market presents Tomato Sandwich Day: July 22, 409 Green St., 8AM-12PM. Enjoy free tomato sandwiches at one of the area’s best farmers markets.
  • Back to School Block Party: July 22, Brookins Smokin on the Go (5 Points), 9AM-12PM. Celebrate the beginning of the school year (coming up!) at Brookins in 5 Points, complete with a moon bounce, live entertainment and music!

Whether you are cheering on the Huntsville City FC at a watch party or running a 5K, you have some good options for sports here in Huntsville this weekend:

  • BrewBall/Broomball & Beer: July 22, Huntsville Ice Sports Center, 5PM. Broomball is back! This ice sport is “sweeping” the nation!
  • Steeple to Steeple 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run: July 22, Arab First United Methodist Church, 7:30AM. Arab First United Methodist Church is excited to host the Steeple to Steeple 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run to fundraise for local emergency services assistance and food pantry.
  • Yoga at MidCity: July 22, MidCity District, 9-10AM. Try out this free yoga class at MidCity for all ages and skill sets.
  • Owens Cross Roads Police Reserve 5K Run And Walk: July 23, Owens Cross Roads School, 7PM. Sign up for this run/walm for all ages, and help support police reserves.
  • Huntsville City FC Watch Party: July 23, Yellowhammer Brewing, 6PM. Cheer on your hometown soccer team as they play Atlanta Sunday night!
