National Crawfish Day—how to celebrate in Huntsville

Whether you call them crawfish or crayfish or crawdads or mudbugs, they’re pretty darn delicious when they’re prepared the right way. Luckily, here in the Huntsville area there are plenty of places where you can find crawfish made the right way!
So, on National Crawfish Day — April 17, by the way — whether you are bringing them home or eating the crawfish at one of these establishments, you’ll know where to celebrate:
New Orleans Lunchbox

Often heralded as the best Cajun food in town, you can find New Orleans Lunchbox inside the Marathon/MinitMan gas station on Holmes Avenue in Huntsville. Right now, you can get fresh boiled crawfish every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, so pick some up to bring home.

Tim’s Cajun Kitchen

Tim’s Cajun Kitchen is a great spot to celebrate National Crawfish Day in Huntsville. Located on Jordan Lane, this place not only serves up some delicious crawfish dishes but just about any Cajun dish you can imagine!

Cajun Steamer

Few folks do crawfish like Cajun Steamer does. And not only is this a great place to celebrate National Crawfish Day, but it is a fabulous hangout any day of the year!

Andy’s Seafood Market

I was referred to this little hidden gem by a friend of mine when I first moved to Huntsville, and I love it. All of their seafood is fabulous, and the crawfish is no exception.

LJz Backyard Bayou

LJ’z Backyard Bayou in Harvest is a veteran-owned and operated catering company that transforms to a popup restaurant on the weekends, serving all the Cajun and creole favorites to include some of the best crawfish in town. So, while they are not actually open on National Crawfish Day, you can drop by this weekend and grab some to go!
