One of Huntsville’s acclaimed restaurants — 1892 East — announced today it has permanently closed. The Five Points restaurant had been open for 15 years.
The news was posted Monday on the restaurant’s website, much to the surprise of loyal customers.
1892 East served Huntsville for 15 years

The restaurant was highly rated (receiving 4/5 stars on Yelp and 4.5/5 stars on Trip Advisor) and a local favorite. It was also a champion of local goods, as the menu included — almost exclusively — locally produced ingredients.
No specific reason was given for the closure, but a statement issued by management expressed gratitude to the Huntsville community for its support.
“After 15 years serving Huntsville and the neighborhood of Five Points, we are suspending operations. We have truly loved being a part of your celebrations, date nights, and happy hours. Thank you for making us a part of your lives.

With the closure of 1992 East, this means three units in the Star Supermarket shopping center are now vacant.
